What is “Healthy Eating”?

I’m the kind of person who believes in doing something 100% or not at all. So when I first started to think about what was going into my body, I made drastic overnight changes and started eating only “clean foods”. To say the least, this drove me absolutely crazy. “Is it dairy-free? Vegetarian? Oil Free? Organic? Locally grown?”  Finally after 6 months of being insanely preoccupied with food I started to realize that eating 100% “healthy” was not actually healthy. I decided to be truly healthy, somedays I needed to skip my workout and have a bowl or two of ice cream. So over the years of learning to love myself I discovered the true meaning of of healthy eating.

But also eating that amazing cupcake your friend brought to work/school for her birthday.

It means when you go out to eat, you order a brown rice, black bean bowl w/ avocados and tomatoes instead of a bacon cheese burger.

It means listening to your body and realizing that a smoothie for breakfast makes you feel like your glowing and an egg mcmuffin makes you feel like garbage.

It also means cutting out soda because you know that soda is full of chemicals and coconut water is delicious and nutritious and an awesome substitute.

At least that’s my opinion.

If you take nothing else out of this post at least remember this: It’s okay to eat Oreos, just remember to eat your greens too.

  1. your blog is the best thing that came into my life! Im now a vegan but I do still eat fish! that’s the only thing I cant cut out! im doing it because of the way they make the meat its gross!! iv know about it for a while but didn’t think you could lose weight without having meat which that is my goal but not as a diet as a life style change! keep posting I love your stuff!
